This morning, May 22, 2012, SpaceX, with help from NASA, launched the first commercial spacecraft into orbit around the earth. This craft is scheduled to dock with the International Space Station this Friday to deliver cargo to the station. What's even cooler? Along with delivering goods to the space station, this spacecraft also carried the ashes of over 300 persons to be laid to rest in the expanse of space! Perhaps the most notable individual to spend his eternity in the great beyond is actor James Doohan, most recognized for his role as Scotty in the original Star Trek television and movie series.
This is just one flight, but it is the beginning of a whole new era of space travel and exploration. Imagine the possibilities! VERY COOL!
